WHAT'S PLAYING IN ARIIITZIA

Every month we'll be providing everyone with updates on some of the key albums and DJ mixtapes that have been added to the Ariiitzia's in-store music libraries.

Folks in S.O. will be able to find these tracks and albums (plus more not mentioned below) in the Transfer Drive in the "Music" folder.

EXCLUSIVE ARIIITZIA MIXTAPES:

DJ Big Jacks - “Game Tight”
Playtime designation: Peak
Genre: Hip Hop
Tracklisting: Found here
New and current hip hop bangers mixed together like only DJ Big Jacks (of the Grand Groove DJs) does it. You know the rules of the game. Turnip.

Get to know Big Jacks better:
1. What's your signature song (song that people can expect you to play in every set)?:
Currently, Three 6 Mafia's "Slob On My Knob." I keep it classy.

2. What musical artist do you think is the most Canadian artist of all time?
Anne Muthaf**kin' Murray!

3. Your job is to torture the enemy, what song do you play?
Any and all Nickleback.

4. What song would you select to be sent to Outer Space, knowing that aliens might intercept it?
Any Lil' B. He's like a martian. The aliens will understand. Thank you Based God.

5. You have a plus one to a party and can take only one of the following people, who is it and why: Keith Richards, Diplo, Thom Yorke, Janet Jackson, Courtney Love, or Taylor Swift?

Late 80's "Control" era Janet. Ms . Jackson if you're nasty.

ALBUMS PLAYING IN ARIIITZIA
Warpaint - Warpaint
From:  Los Angeles, CA
Playtime: Off-Peak
Genre: Beat Driven Dream Pop
Recommended if you like:  The Xx, Beach House, PJ Harvey
Release Date:  1/21/14
Record Label: Rough Trade
SPIN says:  “The [album’s] growth is immense, occasionally breathtaking, and always immediate: You hear each note as if you're sitting right there in the room with candles glowing and incense burning…”

Back in 2010, Warpaint had a lot of hype surrounding them; the band was poised to be the next big thing until The Xx came along and stole that thunder. But with Warpaint, they are undeniably at the edge of something big.  Imagine Radiohead’s most recent beat-driven songs sung by a woman named Emily Kokal - whose voice wavers between sexy and coyish - and you’ve got Warpaint (not-so-coincidentally, Warpaint was mixed by Radiohead’s unofficial 6th member, Nigel Godrich).  There are a few songs that meander (so they’ve been removed from the library, sorry!), but for the most part, it’s safe to assume the hippest girl in school is probably listening to this.

MS MR – Secondhand Rapture
From:  New York City
Playtime: Peak
Genre: Alternative Electronica
Recommended if you like:  Bat For Lashes, Zola Jesus, Florence + The Machine
Release Date: May 13, 2013
Record Label: Columbia/RCA
Pitchfork says: “Brooding, rhythmically strong pop songs that fall halfway between the poutiness of Lana Del Rey and the hyperactive fizz of HAIM.”

The reasons to love Florence + the Machine are obvious: her deep impassioned vocals are gorgeous help you feel exactly what she was probably feeling at the moment she wrote them. The thing about Flo’s songs (unless remixed) is that they’re not about to get you dancing, which is why MS MR’s Secondhand Rapture is the perfect antidote for this conundrum.  Over the past year MS MR have become one of the most buzzed band in the music industry – with people constantly asking “Have you heard of MS MR yet? You’d love them!”

Get to know MS MR's Lizzy better:
1. What's your signature song (song that people can expect you to play in every set)?:
As far as a MS MR song goes, it's "Hurricane," but for any DJ sets, it's ASTR's "Razor."

2. What musical artist do you think is the most Canadian artist of all time?
Alanis Morrissette.

3. Your job is to torture the enemy, what song do you play?
I try not to hate on any artist, but I suppose that if I had to choose one it'd be idfpai.
